Hundreds of staff attend Annual Mass for School and College Staff

The Annual Mass for School and College staff was held on October 24th, in St David’s Cathedral, Cardiff, followed by refreshments in the Cornerstone. The concelebrated Mass was attended by around 450 representatives from the schools of the archdiocese – teachers, governors and support staff.

The theme of this year’s Mass was ‘Go out to the whole world’. During this Year of Faith, Pope Frances organised a gathering of Bishops in Rome to discuss the theme: ‘The New Evangelisation for the Transmission of the Christian Faith’. The Holy Father placed the call to mission at the heart of the celebrations. He challenges each one of us to consider what new step we might take to respectfully make our faith visible and heard in our daily lives.

It is because of this challenge that the theme for the Mass was the Great Commission. The image used on the cover of the service booklet was taken from a banner used by ‘Celebrate’, a Holiday Conference for all the family, organised by a team from Catholic Charismatic Renewal, and open to Christians from every part of the Body of Christ.

During the celebration, successful candidates of the Catholic Certificate of Religious Studies were congratulated and awarded their certificates.
