Congratulations Vincent Cardinal Nichols, the prayers of Cardiff are with you

This morning at the first Consistory of the Pontificate of Pope Francis, Vincent Nichols, Archbishop of Westminster, was elevated to the College of Cardinals along with 18 other prelates.  This now means that England and Wales now have a Cardinal eligible to vote at a future Conclave to elect a Pope.  As a Cardinal of the Church, he also becomes one of the close advisers to the Pope.

Cardinal Nichols has been a friend of the Cardiff diocese for some time, visiting to give guest talks etc.  The prayers of the people of the Archdiocese of Cardiff go with Vincent Cardinal Nichols as he begins this next phase of his ministry.

Ad multos annos!

The Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales have now published official images from the day and of the Mass with Pope Francis the following day.  They can be seen here.
