There was immense joy at St Illtyd’s, Dowlais today as one of their own was ordained by Archbishop George Stack to the Sacred Priesthood. Fr Gareth Thomas was ordained for the Passionist order and was their first ordination for 21 years.
During his homily Archbishop George reflected upon the influence the Passionists had on his life as he would often pop into a Passionist church in London to pray as he was on his way to school. He reminded those assembled of the centrality of the cross to the life of the Passionist and the Christian as a whole. We must all travel through the cross in order to embrace the call the Lord has for each of our lives.
Fr Thomas will serve the Irish province of the order, which incorporates the United Kingdom and Ireland. The people of the Archdiocese wish one of their sons well as he serves the Church in this wonderful way. Ad multos annos
