Joyful celebration as Seminarian admitted to Candidacy for Holy Orders

Candidate Daniel Stanton

There was joyful celebration for the diocese yesterday as Seminarian Daniel Stanton was admitted as a Candidate for Holy Orders at St. Mary’s College, Oscott.

Candidacy marks a transition in the path towards priesthood.  In being admitted as a Candidate the Church officially recognises God’s call in Daniel’s life and formation moves from discernment to preparation for ordination.  Daniel was received as a Candidate by Bishop Mark O’Toole of Plymouth along with other members of his year group.

God-Willing, Daniel will be ordained to the diaconate next year and as priest shortly afterwards.  We continue to wish Daniel well on his journey and assure him of our prayers.

In the photograph above Daniel is pictured with Fr Paul Millar (left) Vocations Director of the diocese; Mr. Nick Williams (2nd left) also seminarian of the diocese; and Fr David Hayman (right) Chancellor of the Archdiocese.
