Catechists meet to discuss future strategy – online forums to be introduced

In September, the Diocesan Adult Education department invited catechists working with primary-age children to gather together in Abergavenny, Bridgend and Cardiff. Pontypridd catechist Teresa de Ste Croix shared some ideas from her experience of leading Children’s Liturgy of the Word, and this provoked an animated discussion from the members of each group. Each session closed by allowing the adults to experience one model that works well with young children – passing the “prayer bear” around the group for each person to hold in turn, while speaking or thinking their own prayer. It was agreed that it would be useful to have on-line discussion spaces for those working with Children’s Liturgy and with First Holy Communion, and these will be set up on during October.
